National No Smoking Day 2017

In the lead-up to national No Smoking Day on March 8th, WDP are holding a number of tobacco awareness events across the City of London to highlight the dangers of smoking and the services available to help those interested. To kick-start the campaign, staff of Square Mile Health spent the afternoon outside Liverpool Street Station, leafleting and providing information about WDP’s local stop-smoking clinics and services available. Attracted by our giant cigarette costume, passers-by approached for an informative chat about where and how to get support.

Research shows that those who stop smoking for 28 days are 5 times more likely to stay smokefree. No Smoking Day will raise awareness across the UK and ultimately lend a hand to help smokers achieve this goal. Smoking is the biggest cause of premature death in England and each year it accounts for over 100,000 deaths in the UK and 1 in 2 long-term smokers will die prematurely from a smoking disease.

WDP Square Mile Health provides intensive behavioural and pharmacological support, including current stop smoking medication such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and Champix. We also provide electronic cigarettes alongside our standard treatment and support individuals who may want to use electronic cigarettes to stop using tobacco based products.
