The Seventy4 Foundation is a highly-regarded addiction counselling service based in St James’ Park in central London. It works with a range of addictions in a non-residential setting, including drugs, alcohol and gambling, and also supports people with the dual diagnosis of substance misuse and mental health illness.
Seventy4’s objective is to help clients to understand their addiction, to overcome it and lead a more meaningful and fulfilled lives. The treatment model is abstinence-based and focuses on long-term changes. Their programmes are based on the understanding that people suffering from addiction often use chemicals and behaviours to ‘self-medicate’ emotional pain.
"I will always keep a place close to my heart for you. I know now that I am ready to face all the challenges that life is going to throw at me" - Service user
Services include individual counselling, day and evening programmes and a specialist service for people with addiction and mental health problems.
Individual counselling service
Seventy4 offers a flexible individual counselling service for people suffering from a range of addictions or for their families/loved ones, delivered by highly qualified counsellors who are specialists in the addiction field.
The Seventy4 day programme incorporates an abstinent twelve-step model of treatment within a structured part-time day programme. The programme runs three mornings per week and includes group sessions, workshops and individual counselling.
The Seventy4 evening programme is an abstinence-based addiction recovery programme that incorporates a number of approaches including Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The programme takes place two evenings per week for a period of 12 weeks. It includes group sessions and individual counselling and is ideal for people who cannot attend full-time or part-time day programmes.
Dual Diagnosis Service
Seventy4 offers a number of specialist services for clients who have addiction problems and a severe and enduring mental health problem, known as dual diagnosis. There are various programmes depending on the person’s mental health condition and where they are in their recovery journey (abstinences-based and harm minimisation based).
We also offer a community facilitator programme for dual diagnosis clients, funded for three years by the Big Lottery Fund. This is a self-development programme to help clients seek opportunities for themselves and others in their own communities and educate key stakeholders about dual diagnosis and what sort of support people can access.
How to access the service
Seventy4 is open to anyone aged 18 and over. The fees for any programme can either be funded by the client’s local authority or self-funded.
