Clinical services

We provide a holistic model of treatment for people with drug and alcohol problems and all levels and types of dependency.

Specialist clinical addictions treatment

Striving to increase the numbers of services users in rehabilitation and detoxification units, we have clinics set up in a variety of locations, including Barnet, Hackney, Harrow, Havering and Milton Keynes.

We have a positive impact, minimising the mental and physical health implications of substance dependency by offering substitute prescribing treatment packages, with the long-term goal of steering service users away from dependency permanently to lead a fulfilling substance free lifestyle. We work closely with service users to encourage them back into education, employment and training and work closely with local partnerships and employers to create opportunities.

How we work

Our clinical team comprises of an eclectic mix of highly skilled, knowledgeable and experienced staff who provide a broad spectrum of clinical services and leadership within a holistic care model. Clinical staff are a valued, integral part of our service. Each service user is provided with a comprehensive assessment from the doctor and nurse to identify the parameters of their drug and alcohol use and track the service user’s medical history, including BBV status, social history, children and mental health issues.

Our nurses provide service users with general health checks, including BBV screening and vaccinations, in addition to testing for prescribed and illicit drugs to inform clinical decision for   those clinically indicated to be prescribed substitute medication. Following initiation of the care plan, reviews are conducted throughout the treatment process ensuring that the care continues address the needs, goals an aspirations of the service user in a safe and therapeutic way.

Other services and long-term support

WDP recognise that an integrated treatment approach maximises the potential of service users achieving full recovery from their dependency. In recognition of this, our services go beyond routine testing and medical care. An example of this is within our recovery orientated offender treatment service (ROOTS) at HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes, where we offer a 24/7 substance misuse service for adult males in custody. At ROOTS we deliver an integrated care model providing clinical treatment packages ranging from stabilisation to detoxification for drugs and alcohol supported by a comprehensive psychosocial intervention treatment program offering, support via one-to-one key work, structured group work programs, counselling, mutual aid and complimentary therapies.

Supporting the reintegration of service users into the community is a key aspect of what we do. We work closely with criminal justice partners to free services users from the cycle of offending and work closely with education and employment services to support them in accessing training and employment opportunities. We recognise that clients recovery journey does not end at point of discharge and referral, recognising the value of planning and delivering appropriate and robust aftercare services to support the clients with reintegration needs such as housing.
