Volunteer Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Counsellor
WDP is a vibrant and innovative drug and alcohol charity committed to helping those who are affected by substance misuse. For over 25 years we have provided support to individuals, their families and the wider communities from centres across London, the South East and East of England. We believe with the right support people can make long-lasting transformations in their lives to improve health, wellbeing and social integration.
Our counselling services provides service users with the opportunity to meet in private with a counsellor for typically at least 12 weekly, fifty-minute sessions to discuss issues and concerns, which are currently making life difficult. Dialectical behaviour therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help people suffering from borderline personality disorder. It has also been used to treat mood disorders as well as those who need to change patterns of behaviour that are not helpful, such as self-harm, suicidal ideation, and substance abuse.
